Why Everyone is Playing STALKER
Somebody made a video about a mod of a Stalker mod, and now everybody's playing it. This video is about why it's so awesome, and difficult, and interesting.
We discuss Grok's Automated Modular Modpack for Anomaly (GAMMA), Stalker Shadow of the Chernobyl, Road to Vostok, Escape from Tarkov, DayZ, the 1972 Russian novella Roadside Picnic by the Stugatsky brothers, Andrei Tarkovsky's 1982 film Stalker, and the HBO miniseries Chernobyl.

Better at Tarkov

I killed my teammates too many times. Now I have to go into solo training mode so I can learn how to improve my Tarkov gameplay. To assist us in this matter is the MTs-155 12 gauge shotgun and his friends the AP-20, Flechette, and Magnum buck cartridges. 💬Discord: discord.gg/xPkJYs3SpN 📺Twitch: www.twitch.tv/lemonch1cken Escape from Tarkov, Customs, Squad, Solo

Making russians cool. Disgusting. You have never seen them, lived under them or interacted with their "systems" or way of life. Another naive Westerner romanticizing evil.

I think when Stalker 2 hit the game market for Pre-orders/trailers, I think a lot of people who were prior veterans of the zone came back to the game series after a hiatus, on top of the overflowing support from the Xbox community as well, and when the trilogy hit the game pass market/marketplace on Xbox, a larger amount of newer players who’d heard of this game series via the trailer comment section or friends who owned PCs, decided to give it a shot. I’m apart of a stalker group on Facebook and I’ve been seeing nothing but an overflood of new console players posting screenshots of their findings in SoC, CS, and Pripyat. It truly baffles me that so many people began to play the old trilogy again and newcomers playing this seemingly old game. Truly one of the best series out there.

It's not really fair to say so about the Strugatsky brothers (the authors of Roadside Picnic). Those books that they managed to release in USSR were brutally censored (like anything else in soviet union), the rest including their best works could not had been released until the union collapsed. Considering the level of censorship, they managed to become one of the best social sci-fi storytellers in the world while between lines actually being critics of the soviet regime. Highly recommended. "The doomed city" should kill your doubts

That "holistic experience" you described is a result of us growing up in the information age. You are basically taking in so many different perspectives(though related) about various events that had an impact culturally on a whole society. The feeling is somewhat disjointed, because that is how the information is presented to us. As time goes on, this feeling of disconnection may increase as the amount of primary sources of these events are washed out by the entropy of secondary sources(social media, academic articles, news articles, etc.) You may never find an underlying truth behind it all, but I take solace in the fact that we are able to gain these perspectives at all. Finding the underlying truth is a part of growing up in our current generation and we have an active role in how we can use this to empower us. Gamers are a niche group of people on the internet. Even more distinctive are gaming communities built around specific genres of games. These communities already have a reason to band together for communication, collaboration, and expression. Yet, this is a very new and young phenomenon to be able to do it at such a large scale. Since many of us were raised in this environment, it is truly eye-opening when a conflict such as the one in Ukraine can evaporate the bonds with others we had established. In the end, the millennial generation has a lot more impact on how we shape our reactions and perceptions to these events than we realize. This video is sort of evidence of that, as you were able to open up a conversation with hundreds of thousands using a video game as an opening. I don't have an answer for you, except to keep searching for the truth. You may never find it, but you may find yourself impacting the world unexpectedly along the way.
